NFLPA Former Players Board member Mickey Washington was elected by the Chapter Presidents to serve alongside Board Chairman Cornelius Bennett on the NFLPA current players Executive Committee.
Here is a little about Mickey…

Mickey L. Washington played at Texas A&M where he obtained his B. S. degree. Mickey was drafted in 1990 and went on to play eight seasons in the NFL with the Patriots, Redskins, Bills (with whom he was the starting cornerback in Super Bowl XXVIII) Jaguars, and Saints.
During those years, Mickey was a union representative with the NFLPA for four years.
After his playing career, Mickey traded his shoulder pads to fulfill his life-long dream of becoming an attorney. After his second year of law school, Mickey interned in the NFLPA’s legal department.
Additionally, he interned with Taylor, Davis & Ernster law firm. Prior to finishing law school, Mickey was offered a position as an associate attorney with Taylor, Davis & Ernster.
Mickey continued his education and graduated from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2002 and obtained law licenses in Texas and Mississippi. At Taylor, Davis & Ernster, Mickey practiced mass tort, commercial litigation and catastrophic personal injury law. Several years later, he and one of the senior partners branched out on their own to form Washington & Ernster, PLLC.
Washington & Ernster, PLLC’s primary practice area is labor and employment law, business litigation and catastrophic personal injury. Washington & Ernster, PLLC maintains offices in downtown Houston and Beaumont, Texas.
Additionally, Mickey is a certified agent with the NFLPA where he has represented several players since 2006.
Mickey has received several honors in his law career such as being recognized among Houston’s Top Lawyers in 2006 by Texas Monthly Magazine, followed by receiving the 2006 congressional certificate in recognition for his work in the advancement of equality.
In 2007, Mickey was honored with the prestigious award of being chosen as a 2007 Super Lawyer Rising Star (as one of the top young attorneys in Texas).
In 2008, he was awarded the Matthew W. Plummer, Sr. Justice award. Further, in 2010 Mickey was chosen as one of twenty Texas attorneys nominated to become a member of the Leadership State Bar of Texas committee.
Currently, Mickey is licensed by the Texas Supreme Court, the Eastern and Southern District Federal Courts of Texas, Mississippi State and Federal Courts, including the Fifth Circuit. He is a member of the Americans for Justice
Association, Leadership SBOT, Jefferson County Bar, Houston Bar, and National Employment Law Association.
Mickey has been involved in numerous charities, including: Alex Durley Camp (co-founder), Big Brother and Big Sisters, YMCA, Memorial Herman Children Hospital program, Huddle Up Foundation of Houston (vice president), Mickey L. Washington football camp (Jacksonville Florida).
Mickey is the current President for the NFLPA Former Players Chapter of Houston.
